Rotary Street Festival (CANCELLED)

The Denville Rotary has issued the following statement in regards to their annual street festival.

The Rotary Club of Denville cares deeply for our community. Due to the Covid19 and for the safety of our citizens, we regretfully will need to cancel our Rotary Street Festival which was to be held on June 7, 2020. This Festival is the highlight and the kickoff to the summer season in Denville. A beautiful piece of Americana! The residents of Denville and beyond our borders have supported our efforts for so many years and we thank you. It is our Rotary Club’s main fund-raising event and we are grateful for the past support we have received. Over the years, the funds raised at this event, have been used for many community projects. We are concerned about how this cancellation will impact next years’ projects that are already in the works and will work hard in the coming months to plan new events. If you have already mailed in your check as a participant or sponsor, your check will be returned to you promptly. The Rotary Club of Denville wish you all good health! We will be very excited to see you next year on June 6, 2021 to celebrate the return of this great event!

NJ COVID-19 Restrictions

The Governor’s Office of NJ has issued these restrictions

New Jersey will be joining New York and Connecticut in closing down movies and gyms effective this evening.

·         Gatherings larger than 50 people will be prohibited.

·         Gyms will be closing at 8 PM and remain closed moving forward.

·         Bars and Restaurants will be closing at 8 PM moving forward, with the ability to re-open each day to offer take-out and delivery services.

·         Food establishments will be prohibited from offering eat-in services.

·         The Governor will be recommending that people should not travel between 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM. The goal will be to discourage people from traveling at those times.

·         Establishments such as supermarkets/pharmacies will not be affected by the mandatory 8 PM closures. They will remain open to provide services for all residents.

·         The State is anticipated to provide specific details later today.

Stay Well, Shop Responsibly, Stay Together !

The COVID-19 pandemic is undoubtedly affecting the global economy and commerce.  However, this effect is felt even more profoundly locally. For local businesses, disruptions like this can potentially be devastating.  Small shops are already living day-to-day on daily sales and commerce. Given current information and projections, this may get even worse.  With many of us cautiously staying home and changing our routines there is a huge drop in the catering services many of our restaurants rely on.  Less social gathering also results in empty fitness studios, spas, coffee shops, and stores.

Hopefully you have noticed many Downtown Denvilile establishments communicating with customers about safety measures, protocols, and processes to keep their businesses clean and safe. As an organization, we are closely monitoring and reviewing our plans for gatherings and activities with Township officials to make decisions shortly. Regardless, all of us should diligently wash our hands, be mindful of our physical interactions, avoid close social contact, and be cautious in public spaces. If you experience any symptoms of sickness, please stay home. The community’s health and wellness is a top priority.

However, if you are looking to shop, grab take out, use professional services, crave exercise, desire wellness, beauty appointments, and other activities, please consider supporting Downtown Denville establishments. The next few months could be devastating for our local businesses, but your patronage very well might help them survive this disruptive time.

Thank you for your continued support and constant community focus.
