Reorganization Meeting Jan 15th

Downtown Denville Re-organization Meeting

What will we be discussing?

We are governed by the Open Public Meetings Act so we have logistical formats that we need to abide by but always have an open public portion and areas for participation.


New Board Members
We’ll be welcoming our newly elected Board Members, Alex Castro (Metro Elite Group) and Carolyn Healy (Resident) and have some required items such as selecting our board positions, committee chairs, etc…

Plans for 2026
As part of Main Street America, We operate with 4 key areas of focus and subcomittees that help those iniatiaves. We are also looking for business and property owners to join these committees and help.

DESIGN – This is to contiue to work on the overall experience of the downtown including beautification improvements, visual attractions, access and more. 


Past Successes: Facade Grant, Bloomfield Lot Walkway, Park at the Point
2026 Priorities: pop-up displays/outdoor spaces, More Attractions for Photo moments, etc… 

PROMOTIONS – a big initaitive and committee dedicated to marketing, PR, events and more.


Past Successes: Our huge social media reach and following, Continually featured in major press outlets as best downtown in area, county, NJ and more. Last year’s Fall Fest was a new event that attracted thousands and didn’t disrupt downtown flow on a Sunday
2026 Priorities: creating materials about the district/organization for new businesses, business support, website,  re-imaging the Holiday season and events that are less disruptive to businesses (not closing streets, etc…) 

ORGANIZATIONAL – This focuses on getting more people involved, business networking, fundraising and more.


Past Successes: secured Placer.AI data to gain valuable consumer insights, re-instituted more quarterly sessions for businesses 
2026 Priorities: providing businesses more data intelligence about foot traffic, shopping habits in the district, creating more business networking events, more sessions to help navigate the township, county and state regulations


Why we need you?

We want more of our businesses involved to:

  • Chair committees
  • Share ideas, tie-ins, collaborations
  • Created networking opportunities, etc..

Best Holiday Windows in Downtown Denville Award Winners

We would like to, once again, congratulate the following Downtown Denville Businesses on their fabulous, AWARD-WINNING decorations and having the best holiday windows in Downtown Denville of 2024! Jeff Halpern, the head of the Downtown Denville BID Design Committee presented each with their award winnings. Most businesses will use their award check for business improvements, supplies, or other contributions to the community! Thank you to everyone who decorated or voted in the 2024 contest.

As the excitement builds for the event, we understand that our community has questions about what to expect. In this blog post, we’re here to provide answers to the frequently asked questions about Downtown Denville After Dark.

DATE: Thursday, June 20th, 2024

TIME: 5:30 PM- 9:30 PM

PLACE: Downtown Denville (Main activities along Broadway with streets open for pedestrians)

FOOD: We’ve got the best eateries around. Check out all the food specials and the ways you can grab take out while not missing any of the great activities on Broadway. FOOD SPECIALS & ORDER OPTIONS HERE

WHERE DO WE PARK?

Broadway will be closed off to cars for everyone to enjoy the activities but there is still ample parking in the Bloomfield parking lot that extends behind Hunan Taste. As well, all the surrounding streets.

ARE THERE ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS?

For safety reasons, we will not have inflatables this year, and there will be no rides. Several stores will have various activities, like mini-golfing, a gel-shooting game, and more. This is a celebration of our downtown shopping district, but it is family-friendly.

IS THERE A BEER GARDEN?

We are celebrating and highlighting our downtown business so please stop by Diamond Spring Brewery’s Outdoor Beer Garden. Thatcher McGhees’ has extended its outdoor seating for meals and drinks. Live Music by Steve Johnson outside the The Second Half on Main and don’t forget to enjoy all the exciting different drinks at Hunan Taste’s bar and restaurant.

There is no separate outdoor beer garden, and all NJ open container laws apply. Please do not consume alcoholic beverages outside the establishments. Taking alcoholic beverages from outside these bars is illegal and will be enforced.

ARE THERE RESTROOMS? – Outside PortaJohns are located on First Ave.

WHAT IS THIS EVENT FOR?

Small downtowns all over the country are disappearing. Online shopping, over development and big business retailers have all eroded the beauty of a downtown shopping districts. Denville is lucky to have one of the best downtown areas around. We want to keep it thriving. It is a center of our community. The Downtown Denville Business Improvement District is a non-profit organization committed to promoting, enhancing and preserving our this wonderful experience and all our local businesses that make up this district. Downtown Denville After Dark: Food

We have some of the best restaurants in the area. Feel free to stop by before, after, or during our event. You can pick up some takeout items and stroll along Broadway while enjoying the live music, or you can take a break at our high-top tables. Keep an eye out for our teenage volunteers, who will be distributing food information, menus, and more, and they can also assist you with orders. The volunteers are working only for tips, so please remember to show them your appreciation.
